Tag Questions


                           
                           
We use tag questions  to check   information   and to ask for   
information. We form tag questions with auxiliary or modal verbs.
We generally use tag question in spoken English.      
                           
                           
  1. When the statement is affirmative, the tag is usually   
      in the negative.                  
                           
    a. You are Kartika, aren't You?          
    b. He speaks English, doesn't he?        
                           
                           
  2. When the statement is negative, the tag is usually    
      in the affirmative.                
                           
    a. That is not John, is it?            
    b. This doesn't cost much, does it?        
                           
                           
More Examples :                    
    a. I am at the right party, aren't I?          
    b. We are not going by train, are we?        
    c. He has three brothers, doesn't he?        
    d. She doesn't have much money, does she?    
    e. They work in Paris, don't they?          
    f. They don't like Music, do they?          
                           
Intonation :                      
    A falling intonation means you are sure. You only   
    want to make sure the information is correct.    
                           
                           
    A rising intonation means you are not sure.    
    It means you need information.
